I loan because: The imbalance between rich and poor is frightening to me. Even if as an individual I do not fall into a category that most Americans would call "rich" what we collectively enjoy here in the USA is so much more that most people have around the world. I have seen what real poverty is and what it does to families. If I can be a small part of helping to stop it, I will.
About me: I teach the art, music and culture of West Africa to American college students, and I work with living artists from the African continent, both in the US and abroad, to advance their careers and their access to skills that they require. I also work with an elementary school in Keur Momar Sarr and a Nursery school in Louga, both in Senegal, to help provide educational resources and supplies for their students. This picture is of me and my friend, Khady, a professional dancer in Dakar, Senegal.
