Occupation:
professor of international health
I loan because:
I have seen how much impact a small amount of money can make - and the structure of Kiva makes it more likely the money will be used appropriately by the entrepreneur. I travel often to Uganda and may be able to meet some of the entrepreneurs I'm lending to... and I'm especially keen to support women who often are left with the responsibility for raising the children when husbands die or otherwise leave the family.
About me:
I do public health research on HIV/AIDS in Africa, mostly Uganda.
