Bio:
While working for over 20 years in high tech (HP, Intuit) in marketing and management, Steve also served as a volunteer with the youth group at his church. Motivated by his volunteer experience, he got a Masters in Counseling in 2008. In 2008-09, Steve traveled around the world with two friends doing volunteer work at orphanages and schools in 15 developing countries (www.stevejoedavid.blogspot.com). Seeing entrenched poverty in so many countries, Steve became skeptical about large government aid programs but intrigued by microcredit programs that unleash the vitality and creativity of the poor. He hopes to see how microfinance works at the grass root level, encourage local entrepreneurs, and help strengthen Kivas relationship with an important partner in Kenya.
