I loan because:
I don't have the type of income that allows me to donate much in the way of charitable contributions. By lending and re-lending a portion of my funds I have set aside for retirement I can greatly increase the amount of good I can do for others. Giving others a hand up in life is of much more value to me than the 1 to 2 percent interest I'd otherwise be able to earn on these funds.
