I loan because:
Lending directly (via Field Partner) to an entrepreneur gives me the opportunity to make a difference to an individual, as opposed to an anonymous group. I love to read the businss cases and to provide support in accordance with my principles. The Idea of microfinance is in my view the most significant financial innovation of recent times. Kiva brings this to a new level by exploiting the abilities of the internet to link enterpreneurs and lenders, thus reallocating financial ressources to the benefit of those not fortunate enough to have access to the ressources needed to develop themselfes. The exponential growth shows that this new possibility is hitting fertile ground.
About me:
I work at an insurance company, which provides risk protection mainly for individuals and small businesses. In doing so it takes risks on its balance sheet. It is my task to ensure that the risks the insurance company takes are under control, such that the company's capital and the claims of our customers are protected. It is also my job to raise and manage capital for the insurance company (i.e. to finance the company), such that it can efficiently and sustainably operate.
