Bio:: Noreen's passion for international development work started at a young age from her travels to Kenya to visit family. She pursued this interest through college, but after graduation she became more involved with social justice issues surrounding her in the United States. Noreen has spent the past three and a half years doing outreach and education work for Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, a New England-based legal organization that fights discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and HIV status. The community work she did made her realize that education is a powerful tool for change and further solidified her passion for public health. She comes to Kiva with an interest in learning how micro-finance and empowering people economically helps build healthy communities. She is looking forward to applying the knowledge and skills she gains as a Kiva Fellow when she returns to school for a Masters in Public Health next fall.
