I loan because:
This is a marvelous idea to help people in poorer countries help themselves. Passive foreign aid may often be a double-edged sword (though yes, necessary at times). Thanks to Kiva ("Nice" in Finnish, by the way :) for enabling people around the world to instead spur people into helping themselves and their society.
About me:
I manage GNU/Linux computer systems and communications networks at the University of Helsinki. This might not mean much to most people, sorry, but I don't know how else to put it. I do hope that the One Laptop Per Child project will make both GNU/Linux computers and computer networking, among other things, more familiar to also people in poorer countries.
