I loan because:
I believe one person really can make a difference. I like using my medical knowledge to help people from around the world, but I know I can't go everywhere and do everything. With Kiva, I can help people who I might never meet but deserve the chance to succeed in life. I came from a very poor family myself, and when my family fled Vietnam after the war, people helped us when we needed it. Now it's my turn to help others in need. Jesus said, "To whom much is given, much is required." I feel like I have been greatly blessed, and I have an obligation to return that blessing by helping people less fortunate than I am. I just love seeing the pictures and reading the stories of individuals from around the world who are working hard to make their lives and the lives of their loved ones better. And it's a great way to learn about different countries and improve my knowledge of geography!
About me:
I am a family practice doctor, working with babies to old people, caring for their mental and physical health. I also do medical mission work around the world when I get the chance. I enjoy the outdoors, gardening, environmental sustainability, saltwater reef keeping, and knitting.
