- I loan because:
- 1) I like to help people who want to help themselves.
2) Kiva lets me be an alternative to the usurious loans that apparently dominate in developing countries.
3) I'm opposed to government foreign aid that goes to kleptocracies and ineffective (or even destructive) big-budget projects and rarely filters down to those who truly need it.
4) Business is the free exchange of goods and services between people. If anything makes the world go round, that is it, so I try to enable it.
5) Kiva.org lets people decide for themselves how they will work and use the funds, rather than telling them how or what to do, like some "Fair Trade" and other similar top-down organizations.
6) I can. - About me:
- I taught English to Japanese college students as well as wrote articles, most frequently about materials design. Occasionally I engage in contractual work, usually proofreading English texts. At present I study engineering, tutor ESL and math, and do light automotive repairs.
