I loan because:: Although I, too, struggle, I have many blessings that others do not. My focus is on Uganda having travelled there for three weeks in August 2007. I've never been so touched by such kind, friendly, and polite people with the biggest smiles in the whole wide word. Although they don't have much, they don't complain and so I want to be a part of making their lives just a little bit better and providing them with a future. I was impressed by the country, the wildlife, the people, and the children who would occasionally ask for a mere pencil. Imagine American kids appreciating a pencil?!
About me:: The job that almost pays the bills is for a private bank in Boston supporting one of its Partners; but I also volunteer at the Boston zoo as a zookeeper and am passionate about gorillas -- we have 7. It was a thrill to sit amongst wild Mt. Gorillas in Bwindi; and I was also touched by my 18 year old porter who I've stayed in touch with and also sponsored his college education. Hopefully on my return trip, he will be my Driver/Guide as he's studying Tourism.
