Kiva Lender: Parent Advocates

Location: Liverpool, Merseyside United Kingdom
Occupation: Parents with disabled dependents
I loan because: We are a group of parents with disabled dependents and children with additional needs. We asked our family and friends to send Kiva gift certificates instead of cards and presents at Christmas. We especially want to be connected with parents working to support their families. Every parent we have ever met simply wants their children to have a better childhood than their own childhood ever was. All children are our children! All children deserve this! we have created a Kiva page on the Parent Advocates Together (PAT) website and our organisation now sponsors a number of Kiva loans. There is a facebook page for our group at www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=41618600500 and you can vist us there.

Some of our children may look a bit different; some might behave differently; some of them have special educational needs; some also have chronic or incurable illnesses; some of them have sensory impairment; some will have physical disabilities and, unfortunately, some of our children live with more than one of these difficulties at the same time.

Each of these marvelous children is different and they are all special! Each of our children is an individual person in their own right. Each child is entitled to the same human dignity and respect that we expect for ourselves and from each other. Every disabled child matters!
About me: We believe that people will achieve more by working together than they can by working alone. We support the efforts of those who seek success through that co-operative endeavour.

We believe that the only way to create a just and fair society is through power being spread evenly throughout society, and not arbitrarily based on wealth, class, gender or race.

We are building our own community enterprise or social business here where we live and you can come by and visit our community cafe project on Facebook at www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=32762651064&ref=ts
