- After graduating from New York University with a degree in Finance and International Business, Lauren spent a summer backpacking across South America. Inspired by the resilient and entrepreneurial young women she met there, Lauren began volunteering with Microfinance Transparency, an innovative organization devoted to promoting fair pricing and protecting the welfare of micro-entrepreneurs. For the past two years Lauren has worked as a management consultant with Huron Consulting Group in New York City. Her responsibilities involved translating industry research and financial analysis into strategic operational improvements for large healthcare systems. She’s excited to apply these skills in assisting Kiva’s Field Partners in Kenya and Tanzania. During her fellowship, Lauren is especially interested in researching how public health programs impact the effectiveness of microfinance and ways to integrate health services into the borrowing process. She is thrilled to travel to Africa for the first time and work with the wonderful people of Yehu and Tujijenge!
