Bio:
Kate grew up outside of Trenton, New Jersey but has been drawn to life and work in Latin America for her entire life. Through her degree in Political Economy, Postcolonial History, and Development from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study and as writer and co-editor of La Vida Idealist.org (http://lavidaidealist.org), Kate has only only fueled her fascination with life, politics, and culture beyond U.S. borders. Through stints at varying nonprofit organizations, Kate studied issues within nonprofit management and best practices in development; however, she sought a practice-based understanding of effective tools in development. After a year WWOOF’ing and researching nonprofit effectiveness in South America, she thought it was time to make her love for development work in the region official through a Kiva Fellowship. She just finished her first fellowship with Fundación Alternativa in Quito, Ecuador and is thrilled to be serving as a Kiva Fellow for Caja Rural Señor de Luren in Peru.
