About me:
As Senior Portfolio Manager for Latin America, Kate monitors the risk, social impact, and loan volume of Kiva's partnerships in the region, and sources and evaluates new partnerships and high-impact loan products. Prior to joining Kiva, Kate worked from Quito, Ecuador as an environmental risk management consultant for USAID and USAID implementing partners; with various Latin America-based community development organizations focused on conservation, reforestation, and economic development; and with the Research Center for Leadership in Action's social change leadership network, developing practice-based tools for community development. During her two Kiva Fellowships working with microfinance organizations in Ecuador and Peru, Kate became convinced that Kiva.org is the one of the most powerful and most sustainable models for empowering people to make a change in their lives, their communities, and the lives of others. Kate holds a B.A. in Political Economy, Postcolonial History, and Development from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study and is a certified Wilderness First Responder, which means she can build a splint for a broken femur out of a tent pole.
