Bio:
Kaajal, a San Francisco Bay Area native, received her B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley in 2006. She has spent the past three years working as a health services research associate at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Palo Alto Health Care System, conducting research and program evaluation work to improve health care delivery for war veterans. Since her desire to positively impact society has been inherent in almost every career and volunteer decision she has made, she is eager to immerse herself in the cause to alleviate poverty through microfinance. Kaajal views her fellowship with Kiva as a perfect opportunity that will enable her to pursue her true passions: traveling, experiencing new cultures, and being part of a noble cause which helps empower underprivileged individuals. While in the Philippines, Kaajal expects to be challenged and inspired by the perseverance, dedication, and hospitality of the Filipino people.
