- I work on an airplane called the Global Hawk. It is a very complex airplane that flies without a pilot. It flies very high (60,000 ft) and takes pictures with special cameras that can see at night and can detect heat. The US government uses it in Iraq. There are no weapons onboard. In the 2007 wildfires in southern California it was used to take pictures of the fires (the cameras can see through smoke). These pictures were used to help the firefighters track the progress of the fires and help people who needed to be evacuated.
