Bio:
Originally from Traverse City, Michigan, John graduated from Michigan State University with degrees in finance and public policy. During college and immediately following, he ran his own photography business specializing in sports and general photojournalism, including a project on cacao production by an indigenous cooperative in Ecuador that appeared in the New York Times. He worked as a technology and trading consultant for a financial services company in Boston, before accepting a position as the operations and sales manager of an internet start-up for the past year. John's passion for international travel began during a study abroad program in college; he has since traveled and volunteered in 26 countries, including Colombia where he is excited to return. John is looking forward to the learning as much as possible about microfinance and international development through on the ground experience with Kiva, which he plans to use while pursuing a career in non-profit strategy/management after completing his MBA.
