I loan because:
There are a number of reasons why I lend : The first and most important is simply because I feel that anyone who has been blessed as much as I owes an obligation to God and to society. By providing financing whether for seed capital, expansion projects, or operating expenses we can help an ambitious entrepreneur make ends meet, while enhancing rather than diminishing his/her dignity. Having lived over 85% of my live in less developed countries I have noticed that the least privileged are much more ambitious and innovative than many assume. By providing some small assistance to help the less privileged achieve their goals through the context of individual strengths, insights, and dreams we can forestall the need for them to fall back on the already bloated and inefficient central government social mechanisms. Rather than give a man a fish or teach him how to fish, Kiva.org lets us finance his/her ambition and first hand knowledge of the local community. I also lend because it is kind of fun to manage a loan portfolio. Besides helping others in need I like to try my hand at loan selection and try to maintain a healthy portfolio.
About me:
Married with 3 children. Wish I could do more to help people rise to a higher level.
