Bio:
Gabriel was born in Nicaragua and immigrated to the US in the early 80s. He became a father while in high school and soon after graduating began working for a major telecom company. Within a few years he became active within the labor union and soon afterward, was elected to vice president. Gabriel was responsible for mobilizing workers as well as representing their interests. Ultimately, Gabriel stepped down in favor of a more bottoms up approach to instilling positive change. In 2006 he took part in a labor delegation to Colombia and in early 2009 after 11 years of employment, Gabriel left his job and began a backpacking trip that has taken him across the US and down through all of the Americas. One of his major goals was to learn to see America through his own eyes and better understand it so as to one day take part in its positive and sustainable development. In early 2010, he attained his other goal. He trekked down to the southernmost point in the Americas and witnessed some of the most beautiful scenery he has ever seen. With nowhere else to go but up, hes now heading North and eager to begin his work with Kiva, back in Nicaragua.
