I loan because:
I am from a developing country and have seen the need that exists there and the effects when this need is not met by the governments - either because they simply can't or they just don't want to. Lending is a sure way to help empower the poor, but mostly I think it allows for a certain reconstitution, or an establishment, of self respect because the poor are now able to help themselves and their families out through their own efforts, not through a handout.
