Occupation:
President, organic certifier
I loan because:
I like being able to see a connection with the people I loan money to. Living in Tokyo, I am blessed with a good job and many opportunities. It is a privilege to be able to loan any amount of money or time and I am happy to have the chance to do so. Entrepreneurship creates jobs and is the best development tool for any economy. Even in Japan, the government is turning to entrepreneurship. Ultimately I think that Kiva could really unleash a lot more power by allowing people in developing countries to loan small amounts to other people in other developing or developed countries. I think that this would really empower people by breaking the concept that they are not successful and need to get loans. Entrepreneurs everywhere have cash management issues. This is where Kiva can help.
About me:
I work for Ecocert SA and manage their Japanese subsidiary. We are an organic certification company. Organic certification gives many farmers in developing areas a chance to get a higher price for their crops. This leads to them putting more money into their community.
