I have travelled extensively and have a Master degree in Development Studies and have seen first hand the difficulties of obtaining finance to get ahead in life. In the West new business start ups often re-mortgage a house or obtain a loan from a bank. Imagine if you couldnt do this? Obtaining a £20,000 loan for a small business from friends and family in the UK is like a person on Kiva obtaining $100. Virtually impossible without very wealthy friends-which not many of us have - do you?
