retired pediatric medical
I loan because:
We were overwhelmed watching the Frontline-World program on PBS. In our troubled world, Kiva's nondenominative enpowerment may be the purest image of hope and humanity. We dream our debacle in Iraq and Afghanistan will become stable enough for common citizens to benefit from Kiva. Long live and power to Kiva!
About me:
We're retired medical professionals and started a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit respite camp (SanctuaryCamp.us) in Colorado. Eventually we would like to partner with a local Yampa River Valley rancher to construct a 2 cabin camp accomodate visiting families with a loved one diagnosed with serious disease for a few days of respite. Our initial fund raiser (2009) and identity recognition event was to host a benefit Holiday ice hockey tournament. Funds raised helped to fund the Wounded Warriors ski camp and for the youth, adaptive skiing program held in Steamboat Springs. Our second holiday hockey tournament (2010) raised money, awareness, register and fund 11 new, community, adult hockey player participants as registered, bone marrow donors with Be The Match-National Marrow Donor Program. Already one of those player participants has been contacted to donate marrow in behalf of a recipient in Minnesota. Woohoo!
