I loan because:
We feel very strongly about empowering people in Africa because it is the continent that needs it the most, and believe peer-to-peer microloans are the best and most sustainable way to end poverty in the world. In more precise terms, there are multiple positive impacts to having more entrepreneurs in the world: - An entrepreneur creates at least one job (for him/herself) - Instead of drawing more resources from an already burdened country, the entrepreneur is paying taxes to the country, and therefore helping improve the infrastructure of the country. This is, unfortunately, not as applicable when the government is corrupt, of course, but as the people develop more economic power (through more entrepreneurs), their government will cater more to them, rather than catering to the IMF, the World Bank, and others whose conditions to help are sometimes questionable). - An entrepreneur creates more work for others: for suppliers, and potentially other employees. - An entrepreneur can pass on his/her knowledge to others, and therefore create other entrepreneurs And last but not least, on the individual level, being an entrepreneur means being free to live life on your own terms and being the master of your destiny!

We are entrepreneurs too. We enjoy inspiring people so we created Quote Couture where we cherry pick amazing quotes that people resonate with and design them on shirts. When you wear the shirt around town, you not only feel good wearing it but you could inspire a bunch more people. It’s a chain reaction of positive energy! ☺ We also enjoy empowering people so we use a part of the profits to make loans through Kiva Team Africa, and welcome you to join us! We also have a design agency, Splenium Design, that creates high-end design for businesses that have a great product or service to contribute to the world. More specifically, we create high-end user experiences & interfaces (web application, iPhone applications, etc.), and branding (logo, business cards, other identity pieces, website, brochure, iPhone microsites, etc.).
