I loan because:
Microfinance provides a dignified and effective means of encouraging entrepreneurialism within emerging economies. For too long the attitude has been to simply provide handouts, which have (in some cases) bred dependency and demeaned aid recipients. Microfinance creates an equal partnership between creditor and debtor, which can then be an example to others within emerging economies that if the entrepreneurial spirit is alive then there is a means to finance it.
Furthermore, microfinance lacks the presumption that loaners-know-best, and instead puts faith in the borrower to apply his or her financing toward a worthy endeavor. Lastly, microfinance embodies the most admirable quality of capitalism, that being; if someone wishes to improve their way of life they can do so if they try. Microfinance can provide the world with a new vision for development, and in the process forge bonds which transcend borders and establish that with diligence, goals, and capital we can always make tomorrow better than today.
