Bogota, Colombia
Raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Alex graduated from Columbia University in 2009 with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Latin American Studies. He has spent the last two and a half years working for a series of startups in China, Colombia, and the United States, fueling both his interest in international economic integration and his sense of wanderlust. He has been interested in microfinance since reading Muhammad Yunus while backpacking through Guatemala, and is looking forward to working with his host MFI and entrepreneurs in Colombia. Alex plans for a fast turn-around following his Fellowship, as he will be starting law school this coming fall. Once there, he intends to use his Kiva experience as a base from which to explore the intersections of law and international economic development.
