Leng S. is 33 years old and lives with her two children in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Unfortunately, her husband passed away and she now has to support the family herself. She runs a baby-sitting organization where she watches the children of friends and neighbors in the village. This business generates about $12.00 per day for S.. She hopes to use this loan in order to buy pigs to raise. Additionally, S. wants to use the loan to purchase rice in to make rice wine--a Cambodian specialty. After using rice to make this wine, the rice is then fed to pigs, which become fatter much more quickly. In the future, S. would like to expand her rice making/pig raising business by buying even more pigs to feed. Eventually, she hopes she will be able to send her children to a university.
