Firudin M. is a dedicated husband and successful father of four children. His eldest child is studying at university and the youngest at elementary school. Firudin began a small grocery store more that 15 years ago, using savings that he earned as a carpenter as his small capital. He was assisted by his wife who helps him serve the customers. Today his clientele has grown and his grocery store has become more popular. He is asking for a loan so that he can expand the variety of goods that are sold in the store. Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
