Ali A. is 60 years old and is married with four children. He is a market vendor, selling cosmetics and bath goods from his own market stall. Ali is already retired and his business, which he has been running for the last ten years, is his only source of income. However, it is successful enough to allow Ali to support his family and parents. Now Ali is planning to increase stock by purchasing more products. Ali thanks everyone for supporting him and promises to repay the loan on time.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
