Heidy Melina
Heidy is a member of the Las Rosas del Valle community bank. She is partnered, 27-years old and has a 6-year old son who is enrolled in public school. Heidy began learning from her mother how to work with "arperia" [I can't find a good translation for this but it's evidently some kind of local craft] when she was 20-years old. She pieces together the frames, paints and decorates them, then sells them at crafts fairs. At nights she works as a waitress. Since she started with Finca, Heidy has been able to invest and save money, open another business, learn the value of things, and receive training that has helped her to better sell her products. Heidy needs 1000 soles to buy material for making her crafts: jute, thread, cloth, cotton. Her dream is to be a systems engineer and she's setting up another business to further her studies.
