S. is 49 years old and a resident of Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. He has three children, all of whom are single and under his care. He is married to Monika, age 31, who owns a beauty salon that serves the whole community.
S. has been a high school teacher since 1980. He teaches from Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and earns an income of $ 6 per day.
S. wants to help his wife to develop a larger beauty salon, so he is applying for a loan of $1200 to build up his wife's shop and to buy more beauty supplies for her salon. The loan will help the family to attain a better standard of living.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
