Gutu N. has 1.5 hectares of grapevines and grows several varieties of grapes for making wine. The vineyard was inherited from his parents, and he has continued their business of selling the grapes to the processing plant in the village for the production of wine. He also has approximately 4 hectares of arable land and this year he grew 2.5 hectares of tobacco, 1.5 hectares of maize and the rest in sunflowers. He can generally expect a large harvest. Gutu also works with animals and has done so for more than 12 years, raising pigs and sheep for his own consumption as well as for selling. He needs a loan from Microinvest in order to purchase chemicals for spraying and to buy other supplies necessary for the maintenance of his vines.
