Melba Celestina
Ms. Melba is single, she is 51 years old, a teacher and has no children, she lives at home with her mother, every day goes out from home at 6:00am to work 4km away, in order to get to the road she has to walk 4km more or ride a horse or bicycle, but this is difficult because she has to leave the horse on the road and people is not nice to the horse, so she prefers to walk back and forth. She is requesting her ninth credit because she wants to place a fence to a hallway where she prepares her lessons and studies at night, because she is on 3rd year of Psychology at the UNAN Juicalpa, where she goes every Saturday. She tells this tight schedule has been possible because she is not married and has no kids, except for her mom who she has lived all her life. She is a client type "A" and is sure she will keep her good record because this debt came from her parents.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
