She invested in making improvements to the land where she would like to build her house, so she can add a drainage system. Since her business is very stable and doesn’t require much investment, María has been able to invest the loans that she has received from EDAPROSPO for the past nine months in improving her land. She has also used these to purchase construction materials to build the family’s home. She previously sold candy for four years. However, after recovering from her first two pregnancies three years ago, she started working in collections. Her husband drives a van. The earnings from the transportation business help to pay for the expenses of their three children, ages six, four and one, and to pay their monthly loan installments. At twenty-three years of age, María’s plans include building a house on her own land so her children can grow up in a safe, calm environment. In this way, she can visualize a better future for herself and her family.
