Leticia Gallardo is 50 years old. Her first husband, with whom she had four children, died ten years ago. When her first husband died, she went to Hong Kong to work as a domestic helper together with her elder sister; however, she was not able to finish her contract for two years so she went back to the Philippines. She then got married to Armando Gallardo, but they did not have a child. She was thankful that Armando treated her children as his own and grateful to God for his guidance and for always protecting her.

With the support of Armando, Leticia was able to put up a small sari-sari store (a community-based store) in their village as replacement for her previous business, which was food vending. It was again a new start for Leticia and to further improve her business, with the consent of her husband, she is requesting financial assistance of PHP30,000.00. She hopes that her request will be granted and she will do her best to pay her loan on time. The amount will be used for her store and she plans to use some of it to have the family's own electricity and not to depend on their neighbor for an electricity extension, which they also have to pay monthly. Leticia always keeps her warm smile for everyone for she believes that it is the best way to communicate especially to her customers.

Journal update for Kiva borrower Leticia

Entrepreneur: Leticia Gallardo
Location: Cauayan City, Isabela, Philippines

Leticia lives in a rural village near Cauayan City. She borrowed PHP 30,000 (USD625). She owns a “sari sari” store, selling food items and drinks in her village. She used her loan to set-up a legal electricity connection. She used to sell only vegetables and food, but with her first ASKI loan she started her sari-sari store. She has had it now for three years.

Leticia has other options in her area, but she chose to borrower from ASKI best they were first and they have the best interest rates. Her wish is to see her business grow.

Thank you so much for helping support Leticia and her family through your loan. ASKI-MFI appreciates your financial and social investment. ASKI-MFI looks forward to partnering with you again in the future enabling them to continually provide quality financial services to Philippines’ small business entrepreneurs.
