Meas C. is 44 years old and a resident of Kompong Tom Province. She has three children: two of whom remain under her care, while the third is married and lives separately. For over a year, Ms. C. has been a mushroom producer, a trade she learned from her father. She has become recognized for her ability to grow high quality mushrooms behind her house.
She is married to Chhengngoun, 25, who owns a small farm where he raises ducks. Ms. C. and her family face a problem due to the lack of transportation. She is applying for a loan of $1000 to buy a motor. This will assist her family to buy food for her ducks, as well as assist her family's transportation needs.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
