Ny T. is a 31 year old resident of Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, where she earns a living distilling Khmer wine for sale, as well as raising pigs. To help with the family's food needs, her husband sells firewood by cutting it down from the forest. They have two children who are teenagers and in school. Ny T. hopes to improve her business, because it is very profitable for the family. She is asking for a loan to buy rice for distilling wine and piglets to raise. The remainder of the loan will used for her husband's business operation.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
