Chum S. is 41 years old and lives with her husband in Prey Chor district, Kampong Cham province. Since 1985, she has been growing rice and vegetables to earn a living and is able to make about US$ 1.50 every day. Her husband helps support the household by working as recycler. He goes from house to house to purchase recycling items and sell them to the market-recycler to earn approximately US$ 3.50 in profit per day. This couple has 2 young children, both of whom attend school.<>
Mrs. Chum S. would like to take out a loan to make two investments. She will provide $200 to her husband so he can use it to purchase more recycling items, and the rest will be used to buy farmland to expand her cultivation.
