Stephen D. is twenty-six years old. He is married and has two kids, a boy and a girl. Both of his children are in primary school. He lives with his family in a rented apartment in the farming community of Simpa, in western Ghana.
Stephen is a hard-working young man. He operates a hand truck. He uses his truck to help market vendors convey their goods to and from the market and the lorry station. Among the goods he transports are food stuffs and firewood. His fee for this service varies according to the distance traveled and the size and weight of the goods. Stephen has been in this business for a year now. He would use this loan to repair and maintain his hand truck and to acquire more trucks that he would rent out to others.
