Khafiz M. is a hard-working man who strives every day to provide for his wife and four children. He manages a grocery store where he sells many staples such as bread, juice, sweets, and other preserved foods. He started this business ten years ago with less than $100, Khafiz has attracted a strong base of customers who are impressed by his efforts to travel to neighboring cities to purchase valuable items. In order to purchase additional foodstuffs and increase his inventory, Khafiz is requesting a loan of $1200 USD.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
