Hermelinda is single and 40 years old. She studied accounting, but didn't want to work for a company - she wanted to have her own business. Hermelinda's parents had a fruit business, and she worked with her parents. She decided to work in this business because she earns more there. She has a stand in the major market, where she sells limes and passionfruit. She began selling by the kilo, and found a person who sends the fruit north to Piura and Chulucanas each week. Hermelinda gets up at 3am to work, and works until midday. Her business has changed since she has been in Finca. Because of the loans she has received, she has been able to invest more. She enjoys the Bancomunal's meetings because she learns, she has fun, and she has friends. Hermelinda requires a loan of 3600 soles ($1125) to buy sacks of passionfruit. Her dream is to buy a piece of land in the north so she can sow limes and passionfruit, and have her own house, because she lives with her parents at the moment.
