Mankaa Cecilia's story

Cecilia is married to Jonathan and they have six children. She is a very hard-working woman as far as maintaining and bringing up the family is concerned. She and her husband are committed in working together for the upkeep of the family. She has also proved her efforts in helping her husband pay the school fees for the children. She has also been able to toil and till the soil to feed the family though with some difficulties as invaders come in at times and destroy her farm produce which now makes her to work extra hard selling food and in her provision store.

Cecilia has taken loan from GHAPE four times already. This is the fifth time she wants a loan from GHAPE. She knows this business will succeed because it is a business she has been doing for a long time and so she has a lot of customers. We do eat to survive and serving the community with cooked food more souls and lives will live to survive which will help the clan to grow from strength to strength.

The profit from her loan will be used to further her children's education and also improve the living standards of her family.

The Grounded and Holistic Approach to People's Empowerment (GHAPE) is a non-profit NGO based in Bamenda, Cameroon. GHAPE works towards the empowerment of the poor and poverty alleviation through a highly multi-faceted approach. Every client is trained in business management, basic health, life skills, financial management, profits and losses, and family values. Clients are also required to contribute a small amount into a personal savings account; most clients save much more than the minimum requirement. GHAPE instills a sense of family and community in its clients and staff and a strong bond of trust has developed between the organization and its clients.
