Emma O. is 43 years old, married, and lives at Obay, Polanco Zamboanga del Norte. She has 2 children and both are in school. A mother always dreams for a better future of her children so she works diligently to earn an income. She is a bookkeeper of their barangay and her husband is a mason.
Emma has been a member of Paglaum MPC since May 17, 2006. She used her first loan to be a RTW dealer. She buys stock, and sells to her nearest neighbors. Her profit is very helpful for her family's daily needs, as well as school fees. Now, she requests a $325 loan because she wants to have additional capital for her to buy new stocks of RTW’s. She hopes to create a better and more comfortable life with the help of Paglaum and the profit she earns from her business.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
