Mrs. Yun K. is 24 years old and lives in Kompong Cham province where she earns a living as a rice farmer as well as growing vegetable for sell, and began her business since 1990. She is married with one child, whom is teenager and attend school. Her husband, Mr. Preng Yon, is 27 years old. He is a recycles trader who is purchases from villagers by using his motorcycle for transportation, and resell to wholesaler for profit. He currently earns approximately $3 per day to cover his family's living expenses. To grow her husband business for additional income, K. has requested a loan for her husband to use as capital for business to buy more recycles to stock and some part remaining the money to use for cultivating. Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
