Es originaria del Departamento de Totonicapn dicho departamento se encuentra en el occidente del Pais de Guatemala el lugar mas frio de todo el territorio Nacional es conocido como la Salud del pueblo por su clima y la cantidad de bosque que posee dicho departamento. Doña maria ella se dedica a la venta de calzados para damas dicha actividad lo viene realizando desde varios años, ella compra su mercaderia en diferentes puestos de mercados para surtir su negocio , y las vende en el departamento de Huehuetenango y Mazatenango y en el municipio de la Mesilla, ella solicita un prestamo en las oficina de Asdir Totonicapan para comprar mercaderia aprovechando estas epocas de inicio del ciclo escolar dos mil nueve, y con las ganancias que optienen le permite mejor el nivel de vida de su familia.

ASDIR (Asociación de Desarrollo Integral Rural - Association for the Development of Rural Communities) is a community-based organization that works to promote development in the villages and communities where it serves. It was founded in 1999 in the village of Nimasac, Totonicapán Department, by a handful of local men and women to support community projects and group loans. Today ASDIR has 5 offices across 3 departments (Totonicapán, Sololá and Suchitepéquez) serving more than 6,000 clients, most of them in rural communities.
