A loan of $550 helped to buy cereals such as maize in bulk.

Abena's story

Abena M. is the 43-year-old mother of six children, three of whom are attending elementary school in Abofour, a town in the Ashanti region where they live. Abena has been selling food items such as maize for over six years, having begun the business when demand for cereals became very high. Purchasing her goods from the farmers in her town, she markets them both locally and in the surrounding communities.

Abena is requesting a loan to increase her working capital in order to buy in bulk, a measure that will expand both her customer base and her profit margin, her goal being to save more money to better assist her husband in meeting their children’s educational needs.
