Ngov S. is 58 years old and a resident of Siem Reap Province where she has owns a plot of land in her village. She is a mother of one child and is married to Moth Set who is a local brick layer and earns about $1.50 per day to help meet with his family's expenses. She is widely known in her business of growing rice crops and vegetables, which she plants twice a year. She earns an income of approximately $2 each day. Ngov works hard at her business activities every day and never wastes time. Growing is S.'s main source of income to help sustain her family and especially make sure her receives enough food. S. has requested a loan to help purchase equipment to repair her old house. The loan will make her family's living conditions more comfortable.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
