Ana Maria is a member of the Las Golondrinas (“The Swallows”) Village Bank. She is 25 years old and lives with her common-law husband and their two children. Ana Maria and her husband have a motorcycle taxi, which they use to transport passengers around the city of Ayacucho. Her husband also has a mechanic’s shop, where he fixes motorcycle taxis. Ana Maria needs a loan of 1050 soles, which will be added to some money she has saved up to buy another motorcycle taxi. Ana Maria dreams of having her own replacement parts store, of selling wholesale, and that her children will grow up to be working professionals.
