Nhep S. is 52 years old and lives in Pursat Province. He earns a living by repairing motorcycles and bicycles. He is also a rice farmer, a business he started in 1990. His wife is a rice farmer as well and raises poultry at home for a profit. She is a good mother of three children, all of whom are single and help her with the farming work. Mr. S. is requesting a loan of $1200 to purchase motorcycle parts, like wheels etc.and a new investment, a motorcycle washing machine. S. appears in the picture of his workshop.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
