Shapoor K. is 33 years old. He is married and lives with his family, in Ningarhar province . Shapoor has 2 children, who go to school. His brother works with him on the agricultural lands that they own. They share a single house. After his father died, Shapoor became the responsible person for the household.
Besides farming, Shapoor is a teacher . He teaches in a public school in the morning, and in the afternoon he works as a farmer in his village. He grows different kinds of vegetables and sells them in the bazaar. Along with the farming, he has livestock. His small son brings grass for the animals.
Shapoor is a hardworking man, but there are 14 members in his family and supporting that many people with only 500 Afghanis ($10) a day income is almost impossible. He therefore has to expand his business. He thinks that if he buys more livestock and seed for his land, he can increase his income. He has requested AFSG for a 50000(AF) ($1,075) loan. He has decided to buy a cow and with the remaining loan, purchase seed and pesticide.
Shapoor K. dreams of the day that he solves all his economic problems and can concentrate on teaching.
